Matthew 1:20-21 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (NIV)
Adam and Eve disobeyed God but Joseph didn’t. The first pair was punished and removed from the Garden. Joseph-as a reward for his obedience, was privileged to serve as the earthly father of God’s Son. God could have left us to suffer the results of our disobedience, but in his love he gave a gift. Through faith in his Son, we can receive the gift and along with it forgiveness and freedom from condemnation.
