God’s Compassion

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit. (HCSB)

Our daily life news often includes more bad than good news. Job loss. Financial ruin. Home foreclosure. Death of a loved one or friend. Tragic accident. Disease. Victim of abuse or crime. Depression. Failed marriage. The reasons for our broken heartedness are numerous and varied. But God’s compassion never fails and his mercy is new every morning. In fact, it is in the difficult and confusing times that he seems closer and we grow nearer to him. He will deliver us-though not always in the manner we ask or hope for. The bad can’t always be explained, but God’s presence can give us strength and new perspective.
