Matthew 8:2 Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” (NLT)On October 7, 1950 Sister Teresa received Vatican permission to start the diocesan congregation that became the Missionaries of Charity. In her words, its mission was to care for "the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, the blind, the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone." These same types of people followed Jesus; in particular this leper. He knew Jesus could heal him, and Jesus assured him he wanted to. Jesus isn’t only interested in our physical needs. He cares about the emotional, spiritual and mental too. No need is beyond his knowledge or ability to mend. The healing may not come the way we wish but come it will. All that’s required is faith in his power to make us whole.
