Genesis 4:15 But the LORD said to him, “Not so; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. (NIV)
Scholars have debated what the mark placed on Cain was. Regardless of what it might have been, it was a mark of God's love for it protected him from those who would have attempted to take his life because of what he had done-killed his brother. God protects his children-not always from danger or trials but always through them. He will never allow us to slip and fall.
